Graduate Entry Dental Programme (GEDP)

 

Overview

The University of Ghana Dental School (UGDS) is inviting applications from qualified applicants for admission into the Graduate Entry Dental Programme for the 2025/2026 Academic Year.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants should have a good BSc Degree (Minimum of 2nd Class Lower or equivalent CGPA in unclassed degrees) in the following science-based courses: Biological Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Human Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Physician Assistantship (Dental), Pharmacy, Nursing, Nutrition, Dietetics, Food Science, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Dental Laboratory Sciences, Physiotherapy and Radiography. Graduates whose courses are not listed should not apply.

  • Candidates should have obtained a good WASSCE/SSSCE grade in three (3) core and Three (3) Elective science subjects one of which must be Chemistry. Equivalent qualifications like Cambridge GCE “A” Level, IGCSE, International Baccalaureate, and others are also acceptable.

  • There should be evidence of having completed National Service / Internship (if applicable).

Nature of Programme and Duration

The Graduate Entry Dental Programme is an integrated 4-year Dental Programme which leads to the award of BDS Degree. The Programme will begin in April 2025 and will be run on a FULL-TIME and NON-RESIDENTIAL BASIS for Phase I and Residential for Phase II.

Ghanaian Applicants

The University of Ghana online application E-VOUCHERS can be obtained by Ghanaian applicants for Two Hundred and Fifty Ghana Cedis (GH¢250.00) at the following banks: Ecobank, HFC Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, Ghana Commercial Bank, Zenith Bank, Merchant Bank, CBG Bank, Prudential Bank and Fidelity Bank.

Foreign Applicants

Foreign Applicants are to pay One Hundred and Twenty US Dollars ($120.00) as application fee into College of Health Sciences Account Number (0161034485604301), Korle Bu Campus Branch, SWIFT CODE: ECOCGHAC. Kindly indicate UGDS-GEDP on the pay slip and upload

 

How to Apply 

Eligible candidates are to complete the application forms online. In addition, they should submit the following documents to Academic Affairs Office, UGDS, Korle-Bu (Room 27) Two recent endorsed passport-sized photo-graph, Two endorsed Recommendation Letters from 2 Referees from a relevant Academic Institution, Copy of Certificates (SHS & Degree), Original Transcript, a copy of recent past six (6) months bank statement (till December 2024) and other financial instruments as proof of ability to pay including addresses and Letters of Support from sponsor(s) under- taking to pay all fees and showing detailed information of present workstatus, a Proof of online registration and NSS Certificates where applicable.

NB:  Documents submitted will not be returned.

Access Course

A shortlist of suitable applicants will be posted on the UG website. Shortlisted applicants only may apply for the access course. Applicants are to pay Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢3,000.00) for the Access Course, Entrance Examination, and Interview. Applicants should check their eligibility and proceed to pay at the Bank (Details to be communicated after shortlisting). 

The Access Course covers English Language, Quantitative Methods, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology and Pharmacology. 

The course will take place at the University of Ghana Medical School, Korle-Bu from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. each day. Shortlisted eligible applicants should take note of the following dates regarding the Graduate Entry Dental Programme admissions:

Entrance Examination - February 11, 2025
Interview  - February 13 - 14 2025                                               

Eligible applicants will be admitted into the Programme subject to passing an Entrance Examination and Oral Interview.
